Foreign trade union leaders visit Belarusbank

A massive delegation of trade unions from 15 countries visited the head office of Belarusbank. The guests were keen to see the exposition in the museum of the banking history and public amenities of the bank.

The excursion was followed by a roundtable discussion which focused on the protection of employees’ interests and social partnership strategy.

“The trade union of Belarusbank remains and, I am sure, will remain the biggest one in the system of the Belarusian Trade Union of Bank and Finance Employees. Our trade union is a powerful and authoritative organization which safeguards the interests of working people”, - Deputy Chairman of the Board of Belarusbank Uladzimir Strykhar noted in his welcome speech.

The vector of relations between the employer and the United Trade Union Organization of Belarusbank is defined by the collective labor contract which guarantees employees equal terms of remuneration and social guarantees. They cover a wide range of areas, including labor safety, health insurance, sports activities, wellness, cultural and educational events. This complex of measures creates a feeling of safety and confidence in the future, which surely has a positive impact on productivity and contribution to the general result.

“In a word, we have a good experience of building social partnership. However, we should also consider the possibility of bringing in something new, interesting and innovative, - the Deputy Chairman added. – I dare to hope that our today’s meeting will be useful not only from the point of sharing experiences, but also from the point of strengthening international cooperation between trade unions”.

Background information: The meeting was arranged in the framework of the 2nd the international conference titled “Bank, Finance and Insurance Trade Unions and the Future of the Labor World” which took place in Minsk on May 16-17, 2017. The meeting gathered representatives of trade unions from more than 15 countries, such as Romania, Slovenia, Malaysia, Serbia, Turkey, Lebanon, Italy, Korea, Egypt, Armenia, Moldova, Russia, etc. The meeting was initiated by the Belarusian Trade Union of Bank and Finance Employees for the purpose of experience exchange and reinforcement of international cooperation between trade unions.
