The annual CDB conference is a unique informal networking venue that focuses on interbank cooperation. Within the framework of the forum Belarusbank delegation met with CDB President Zheng Zhijie and Executive Vice President Ding Xiangqun, as well as head of CDB-Belarus cooperation team.

In addition, Belarusbank’s representatives met with delegations of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, Russia’s Vneshekonombank, RSK Bank (Kyrgyzstan), the State Savings Bank of Tajikistan, Development Bank of Mongolia and Habib Bank Limited (Pakistan).

Within the framework of the conference there were organized bilateral meetings with the management of the Silk Road Fund and top officials of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank.

Addressing the forum, Aliaksandr Paliuka stressed that 2017 is a landmark year in the history of Belarus-China cooperation on the global level. That is the year of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China.

“The overriding importance of the Economic Silk Route project, which would change the global geography, is now recognized by everyone. Our country was one of the first to support the initiative of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jingping about the joint formation of the Economic Silk Route. Belarus lies on the logistical crossroads. That is the crossroads of key transport routes that connect Western Europe and the East, the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea regions”, he said.

For reference: Belarusbank places great emphasis on cooperation with the Interbank Consortium of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Belarusbank was the first financial institute of Belarus to become a partner bank of the SCO IC on June 5, 2012.

Belarusbank and China Development Bank have a 5-year-long cooperation history. Belarusbank’s status of the SCO IC partner bank activated cooperation between the two institutions, enabling the Belarusian bank to join interstate projects.

Currently the joint investment project of Belarusbank and CDB is implemented by FLLC Slavkalyi (the construction of a mining complex). The first drawdown under the project was made in December 2016. The parties are forming a pipeline of other projects in the framework of the Facility Agreement to the tune of $300 million, as well as a number of other projects beyond the scope of the agreement.
