Belarusbank to Further Cooperation with Slovak Partners (press release)

The visit of Belarusbank’s delegation to Bratislava was aimed at developing contacts with Slovak financial institutions. On October 14, 2014 Chairman of Belarusbank Siarhei Pisaryk and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the Slovak Republic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

“By signing a new edition of the Memorandum of Cooperation, we have declared that the relationship between our banks has reached a new level,” said Siarhei Pisaryk. “It was possible due to Eximbank’s matured experience and impeccable reputation. In the last 5 years this bank insured 15 transactions between Slovak and Belarusian business entities. The projects were financed with the participation of Belarusbank and its partners from Slovakia and other countries, in particular from Germany, for a total amount of almost EUR 23 mln.”

The Chairman also underlined that he was hoping to see Eximbank not only as an export credit insurer, but also as a sponsoring bank, and stressed that Belarusbank, in turn, was ready to act as a reliable partner, as it did before.

In the parties’ opinion, the Memorandum will contribute to wider cooperation in the area of financing the exports of goods from one country to the other, encourage investments to the Belarusian and Slovak economy, and help increase trade turnover between the countries.

At the moment Belarusbank maintains correspondent relationships with 10 banks in Slovakia and is constantly seeking new forms of cooperation.

During its visit the delegation of Belarusbank also conducted negotiations with the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Pavol Pavlis, Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Slovak National Council, Head of the Slovak-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group Robert Madej, member of the Board of Directors of Sberbank Slovensko a.s., member of the Board of the Pan-European University in Bratislava Alexander Somov, and with the top management of Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) attached to the Slovak Ministry of Economy and K Cero Invest company. During the abovementioned meetings the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in various areas.
