Belarusbank raises 60 million euro worth syndicated loan

On July 27, 2020 Belarusbank acquired a 60 million euro syndicated loan. The current project is the bank's 16-th international deal as it debuted in the syndicated lending market back in 2006.

The syndicated loan is disbursed in tranches for a term of up to 1.5 years for corporate-wide purposes and financing of trade contracts of the bank's customers. 9 foreign financial institutions acted as arrangers of the deal three of which for the first time ever participated in this kind of deals of the bank.

Mandated lead arrangers: Alfa-Bank (also as a Credit Manager), Transkapitalbank, Sovcombank, BCS Prime Brokerage Limited;

Lead arrangers: Banca Intesa, Rosbank, Altyn Bank (a subsidiary of China CITIC Bank Corporation Limited);

Arrangers: Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan and International Bank of Azerbaijan.

"Each deal in the syndicated lending market was unique for our bank. And this one was no exception. Particularly, in the current high-volatility environment of external markets caused by coronavirus infection COVID-19, as well as under the distance work mode. We are thankful to our partner banks for their support and fruitful cooperation", – First Deputy Chairman of Belarusbank Aliaksandr Paliuka said.

As part of the bank's strategy, the deal also allowed to expand the geographic diversity of lenders in the syndicated lending market. Representatives from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, and affiliated financial institutions of one of the largest European financial groups Societe Generale and the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo joined the participating banks.

As the arrangers mentioned, in the international financial cycles Belaruabank is considered number one on the financial market of Belarus, the bank that proved itself a reliable business partner with a consistent business strategy.
