Belarusbank delegation takes part in session of SCO IBC Council in Beijing (press release)

Belarusbank delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Board Viktar Perepelitsa took part in the session of the Council of the Interbank Consortium of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing on June 4-6, 2018.

Addressing the participants of the session Viktar Perepelitsa pointed out that, being a national representative of the Republic of Belarus in the SCO Interbank Consortium, Belarusbank is interested “in the further development of mutually beneficial relations with partners, introduction of effective cooperation mechanisms and expansion of the geography of interests of the banking community.

Belarusbank delegation held meetings with representatives of China Development Bank, Russia’s State Corporation “Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs” (Vnesheconombank), the State Savings bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbank”, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties placed a special emphasis on experience exchange in the field of financing the foundation and development of small and medium businesses, which form the basis of the economy in many countries of the world, including China.

Within the framework of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Beijing there was arranged a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People’s Republic of China Kirill Rudy. The meeting was dedicated to a detailed consideration of wide range of issues in the sphere of credit and investment cooperation between Belarus and China.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Belarusbank took part in the opening ceremony of UnionPay payment terminal in the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus. The terminal will be used for the collection of consular service fees from Chinese citizens. “Today’s event is the result of active cooperation between the Bank and UnionPay. We signed a partnership agreement this March in Shanghai. Our representative office in Beijing took part in the installation of this up-to-date payment terminal. It is extremely important, taking into account the growing interest of Chinese citizens in visits to Belarus”, he said.

Starting from the fourth quarter of 2018 UnionPay cards will be accepted by ATMs and merchants within the Bank’s acquiring network. By the end of 2019 UnionPay cards will be accepted in more than 50,000 terminals installed in Belarusian merchants. This will mean almost full coverage of the Belarusian territory”, Viktar Perepelitsa said.

The Chinese party at the opening ceremony was represented by Vice President of UnionPay International Wu Yi.
