The delegation of Belarusbank as a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Interbank Consortium (SCO IBC) for the first time took part in the meeting of experts and coordinators of the Consortium's member banks held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of Eldik Bank (Kyrgyz Republic).
During the meeting, the participants considered the draft Strategy of further development of the SCO IBC for the medium term 2027-2031. The document will be submitted for approval at the next meeting of the SCO IBC Council scheduled for the 1st decade of July 2026. On the agenda were also discussed the topics of intensification of the interbank joint action in the field of social and corporate responsibility, including the possibility of adopting an issue-related roadmap. Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience and training.
This event is another element of the Bank's consistent focus on the active development of multilateral cooperation within the SCO.
Since 2012, the Bank has been participating in SCO IBС events as a partner. Following the Republic of Belarus's status upgrade to a member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2024, Belarusbank, as the principal state commercial bank of Belarus, with the support of the China Development Bank (presiding bank in the SCO IBС from October 2024 to October 2025), has fulfilled all the procedures prescribed by the Consortium's Charter and was accepted as a member bank of the SCO IBС by a unanimous decision on June 5, 2025.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Interbank Consortium was established on October 26, 2005. The Consortium's activities are focused on supporting economic cooperation in the SCO region. The Consortium includes one national financial institution from each SCO member state - Belarusbank, Development Bank of Kazakhstan, Eldik Bank (Kyrgyz Republic), China Development Bank, State Development Corporation VEB.RF, Habib Bank Limited (Islamic Republic of Pakistan), India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited, Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbank”, National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity, as well as one partner bank (Development Bank of Mongolia).
