Belarusbank obtains a USD 110 million syndicated loan from Russian banks

Belarusbank signed a USD 110 million syndicated loan agreement on November 28, 2013. In this transaction Novikombank, Gazprombank, MDM Bank and Globex Commercial Bank participated as mandated lead arrangers, Alfa-Bank and Zenit Bank as lead arrangers, Russlavbank and Investtradebank as arrangers. Novikombank acted as agent bank and book-runner of the transaction.

This syndicated loan became the ninth project to be implemented by Belarusbank in the syndicated loan market, and the first syndicate raised by Belarusbank based on the legislation of the Russian Federation.

Implementation of the project based on Russian legislation became a consistent step in building-up Belarusbank's presence in the Russian financial market. The achieved level of cooperation with Russian banks allowed Belarusbank to form a syndicate, the largest attracted by Belarusian borrowers in the current year.

The Russian financial market is becoming increasingly attractive for Belarusian companies and banks in the recent years in terms of borrowing, including syndicated facilities. Belarusbank intends to use its own experience in this transaction for the arrangement of similar projects of other Belarusian borrowers.

Successful attraction of a considerable syndicated loan with the participation of Russian banks was the evidence of the high interest of Russian investors to projects of Belarusbank. Belarusbank plans to expand its range of debt instruments used in the Russian market in the future, including funding vehicles available at the Moscow Exchange.
