On December 29, 2005, on the New Year Eve, Belarusbank issued the first in the Republic of Belarus chip card VISA (EMV).
Belarusbank was the firs to receive the VISA chip cards acquiring licence and in 2004 started to service EMV cards issued abroad and prepared for its own issue.
Migration to the chip technology will dramatically increase the safety of plastic cards transactions.
